Product Development

Submitting Your New Product to Layfield

The Atlantis Raintank system was added to the Layfield product line in 2008/2009Layfield actively develops products and services in the Geosynthetics and Industrial Fabrics portions of our business. Our product and service development is handled by our Research and Technology department which is part of Layfield Geosynthetics and Industrial Fabrics. This department also handles service development for Layfield Environmental Systems.

Layfield uses a 4-step product development process. The first step is an evaluation and prioritization of ideas. The second step is an evaluation of an idea including a basic financial projection. Prototyping (or trial sales of a distributed product) happen third. Once the prototype (or trial sales) are evaluated we move to commercialization. Depending on the complexity of the product or service commercialization could take between 6 months and a few years.

If you feel your product or service is a good fit for Layfield in the field of geosynthetics or industrial fabrics please contact the Research and Technology Manager at R&T Manager

A word to inventors. Layfield only rarely looks at undeveloped products from an inventor. In order for us to consider an invention the invention needs to be well developed with protection, such as patents, already in place. The invention also needs to fit very well with our existing products and services. We will require you to reveal enough of your idea for our basic evaluation before a non-disclosure agreement is signed. We require you to be the primary developer and promoter of your idea. We do not normally fund or otherwise pay fees up front for ideas - we normally only pay fees once product is sold.
